Rosberg: “F1 is doing the right things”

The financial crisis linked to the coronavirus is putting the most modest teams, already struggling to raise their budget, in difficulty. The management of the F1 therefore froze developments and delayed the entry into force of the new regulation by one year. It is also considering implementing a cost limit, which is generating much discussion and controversy.
The old pilot Mercedes F1 Nico Rosberg believes in any case that these measures are good for the sustainability of the championship.

“There will be a lot of loss of income, but they have put in place measures to limit losses as much as possible. Development has been stopped and they are in discussions on many topics. F1 does the right things,” highlighted the 2016 world champion on Deutsche Welle.

Nico Rosberg joins executive director of McLaren Technology Group Zak Brown as for ensuring the survival of the most modest teams to maintain a good field on the Grand Prix grids.

“The priority is to ensure the financial situation for the smallest teams because F1 needs all the teams, assured the 34-year-old German. If two or three teams drop out, it will no longer be a great discipline because there will not be enough teams on the grids. »
