Rosberg: “We want to be more involved”

Following an Australian Grand Prix marked by the introduction of the new qualifying format, which despite strong opposition, will finally be renewed for the Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend, the GPDA published a letter to the governing bodies of the F1, which provoked a response from Bernie Ecclestone.

Nico Rosberg and some of the drivers present this Thursday at the press conference returned to the subject. “Yes, we are all united on this opinion because we love the sport and we can see the fans who criticize certain aspects that we could improve, explains the German pilot of Mercedes.

The sport could be even more exciting and we are left wondering whether or not F1's governance can't overhaul the process with which decisions are made to try and get to a point where we can get better decisions and make sport more exciting.

There are recent examples with this qualifying format where the fans are at home and not happy. We race for the fans, especially for the fans. Even the regulations for the next season, there should be more downforce while we should help with overtaking. More downforce means overtaking and following other cars will be more difficult. With all these things we say, we would like to be more involved, to have more than a say. »

Fernando Alonso, who will not take part in the Grand Prix on the Sakhir track, also added that it would be good to see all the drivers united within the GPDA. “I must also say that, in all the important decisions taken in the last two years, we were all united. The group is united in important things, whether you are part of the GPDA or not. »
