Rosberg 'optimistic' after first tests

Nico Rosberg is optimistic after the first day of testing for the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring. The German set the best time during the second practice session in Budapest, while his direct rival and teammate Lewis Hamilton made a mistake, limiting his driving to a few laps in the afternoon.

“It was an impressive day for us, given the performances achieved, underlines the leader of the Championship who finished almost six tenths ahead of his closest opponent Daniel Ricciardo. That doesn't mean we'll be as good tomorrow, but it's very positive for the moment. »

“I very quickly felt good in the car. So it's a good start to the weekend., adds Nico Rosberg. We have completed the preparation work for qualifying and the race and everything seems to be working well. The new asphalt seems to suit us well, that makes me optimistic. It's good to start knowing that the contract is signed, it's always extra motivation. »

Paddy Lowe, the executive director of the technical part of Mercedes F1, specifies that Lewis Hamilton's W07 Hybrid would be ready for the final day of testing. The Briton apologized to his team.

“There was damage to the suspension and a few aero elements, but they were easily repaired this evening”, reassures the engineer.
