Rosberg: “Not a good start to the weekend”

Nico Rosberg was only able to drive for half an hour during the second practice session for the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. Trapped by a wet track, the pilot Mercedes lost the rear of his W07 Hybrid at the exit of turn 7 and crashed into the wall.

Although he seemed able to reach the pits despite a damaged front wing, the German was forced to pull to the side of the track to avoid a penalty. “Not a good start to the weekend for me.”, recognized the vice-world champion. “The track was very wet, which complicated things. This loss of control in free practice 2 is regrettable. »

“I just accelerated a little too hard, spun and hit the wall. My front wing was quite damaged and the mechanics will unfortunately have some extra work this evening. I apologize to them… I hope to do better in qualifying and in the race.”, added the German.

Conversely, everything went well for Lewis Hamilton who set the best time during the two Friday practice sessions. With the conditions, however, the three-time world champion only covered five more laps than his teammate over the entire day.
