Rosberg ready to do battle at Hockenheim

The British Grand Prix did not smile on Nico Rosberg as the Championship leader dismounted while leading the race following gearbox problems. The German now only has four points ahead of his rival Lewis Hamilton who won at home. “He didn’t get the result he deserved and we have worked hard since the race to identify and resolve this problem”, Explain Toto wolff, the executive chairman of Mercedes F1. “The performance of the car is visible, but rock-solid reliability is also important to maintain our Championship lead until the end of the season. »

Despite this disillusionment which puts an end to a series of eight finishes in the first two places, Nico Rosberg managed to draw out promising elements for the future. “Although I didn’t expect such a result, my weekend at Silverstone was encouraging on many points. We managed to anticipate the weather during qualifying and the balance of the car was very effective. It was a big disappointment, but the new regulations force us to push the limits and I am aware that the team does its best every weekend. I lost a lot of points and the fight for the title is very close, but I feel good. »

After losing a battle on the land of his rival Lewis Hamilton, it will be the German's turn to play at home with the trip to Hockenheim this week. This event could allow the leader to turn the page on Silverstone, especially since he feels confident on this track. “Hockenheim is a very important race for us. It’s the Mercedes-Benz National Grand Prix and a second home race for me after Monaco. I really want to achieve a good result this weekend. This is the circuit where I have achieved the most victories during the Promotion Championships and I know that it suits my driving style. I would obviously like to quickly add F1 to this list. I have always received great support from the German spectators and I hope to shine in front of this audience. »
