Rosberg: Resistance would have been useless in Barcelona

Nico Rosberg had little hope of winning the Spanish Grand Prix, aware that his Mercedes W04 was going to suffer with his tires against rival teams. The German was not mistaken as he quickly fell in the rankings. The poleman of the weekend still managed to save a sixth place by resisting the pressure exerted by Paul di Resta, while his teammate Lewis Hamilton who started alongside him on the front row only finished 12th. The Silver Arrows once again shone in qualifying before seeing their performance drop in the race.

“I had a very difficult race this afternoon”, recognized the son of the 1982 world champion. “My start was good and I managed to keep my direct rivals behind me during the first stint. Then I had to do my race and started to fall back in the standings because there was no point in destroying my tires to try to stay ahead. We didn't have the speed of the fastest cars today. The gap with the three teams in front of us is growing and we must reduce it. We have a car very fast but we have to preserve them for the race. »
