Rosberg wins on the wire against Ricciardo

Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) won for the first time at the Singapore Grand Prix after starting from pole on the Marina Bay starting grid. If the German was not threatened for most of the race despite brake problems on the two W07 Hybrids, he had to stay on the attack to counter the assaults of Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) who had tires in better condition after making an additional stop.

Nico Rosberg scored his eighth victory this season and regained the lead of the Championship against Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) for an eight-point lead six races from the end of the season, the Briton only being able to obtain the last step of the podium.

The three-time world champion even almost missed the top three after being overtaken by Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari). The Mercedes driver made the difference in the pitstops, leaving the Finn in fourth place ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel who made a good comeback after starting from the back of the grid.

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) finished sixth after completely missing his start. Its poor flight caused a collision between Carlos Sainz Jr. (Toro Rosso) and Nico Hulkenberg (Force India) which brought the German’s race to a premature end.

Fernando Alonso (McLaren) finished seventh after gaining numerous positions at the lights while his teammate Jenson Button retired with a mechanical problem.

Sergio Pérez (Force India) placed eighth by extending his stints. The top ten was completed by Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) and Kevin Magnussen which places a Renault in the points for the first time in several months.

Romain Grosjean (Haas) was unable to start due to a brake problem. His compatriot Esteban Ocon (Manor) finished last of the classified drivers.
