Nico Rosberg set the best time of the first day of testing for the Bahrain GP with a time of 1'34"647, a tenth ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton. But Mercedes closely monitors the performance of the Team Ferrari which is taking advantage of favorable conditions for the SF15-Ts to be comfortable when temperatures are high.
The Silver Arrows fear a scenario similar to that experienced at the Malaysian GP where Sebastian Vettel had established itself by benefiting in particular from better tire management on its car. “We seem faster on flying laps but their race pace is very competitive. Both types of tires (medium and soft) are robust, it is their performance which should influence the weekend… I feel confident in my performance both on a flying lap and on the long stints”, comments Nico Rosberg.
