Rosberg surprised by Vettel's lead in Brazil

Nico Rosberg confirmed his good performance in the rain at Interlagos as the son of the 1982 world champion took second place on the grid for the Brazilian Grand Prix, ahead of the Ferrari de Fernando Alonso and Red Bull by Mark Webber. The pilot Mercedes has been comfortable in Sao Paulo since the first tests since he set the best time during the first two sessions, but his performances were still insufficient compared to the power of the RB9 of Sebastian Vettel which was ahead of the first W04 by more than six tenths.

“It was a really tough session with really tough conditions and a long break before the last outing”, comments the German. “I'm really delighted to have taken this second position on the grid. My goal was to make life difficult for Sebastian and I was surprised that the delay was so significant under these conditions. I lost time in the last sector compared to him, which was due to a drop in SREC power after doing two consecutive fast laps. Being at the front gives us a great opportunity for the race, but the most important thing is to stay ahead of the Ferraris. »

Mercedes AMG F1 indeed seems on track to maintain its second place in the Constructors' Championship since it has a 15-point lead over the Scuderia before taking part in the final event. Lewis Hamilton also has a nice advantage against Felipe Massa since the 2008 world champion will start from fifth position while the local driver will only start from ninth place. But nothing has been done yet, especially in Brazil…
