Rosberg ran like clockwork in Barcelona

Nico Rosberg kept the best time of the first day of testing in Barcelona (Spain) with a lap completed in 1'24"374, improving by 3 tenths his pole position signed last weekend on the Catalunya circuit, with unmarked tires tested for Pirelli. But more than performance, it is exemplary reliability of the W06 Hybrid which was surprising since the German completed 146 laps. On this 4,655km circuit, the driver Mercedes therefore traveled nearly 670km. This is more than double the length of the Grand Prix.

Marcus Ericsson was the closest on the Sauber by pointing more than 2 seconds from the reference just in front of the Ferrari de Raffaele marciello also very active on the track. After a discreet start to the day, Daniil Kvyat returned to business to place the Red Bull in 4th place by passing the milestone of 100 completed laps. Pastor Maldonado completed the top five on the Lotus but only completed 60 laps.

For his first steps in F1, Nick yelloly achieved the 6th time on the Force India, ahead of Pierre Gasly, second most diligent with 129 laps covered. Williams was conversely the least present on the track, Felipe Massa completing only 54 laps finishing 8th in front Oliver Turney which has tested numerous developments on the McLaren.
