Rosberg had a dream weekend in Monaco

Nico Rosberg will have dominated the 71st edition of the Monaco Grand Prix. After maintaining his pole advantage at the start of the race against his teammate Lewis Hamilton, the pilot Mercedes effectively protected his position despite the numerous interruptions in the race. If Sebastian Vettel had managed to take the advantage over the Mercedes of the 2008 world champion, the driver Red Bull was not able to threaten the leader of the race who won his second Grand Prix success on the most beautiful event of the season. “It’s incredible, it’s a very special feeling to make myself at home.”, comments the German who spent his childhood in the streets of the Principality. “The whole weekend went perfectly. I had a tense start and it was very close with Sebastian and Lewis, but I managed to keep the advantage. I then controlled my pace. There car was very competitive and the tires held up well. »

This victory is even sweeter for Nico Rosberg after a difficult start to the season for Mercedes which was unable to confirm its performance in qualifying on Sunday. But the controversy of the tests carried out by the Brackley team with Pirelli after Barcelona could suggest that the Silver Arrows were able to progress with the degradation of their tires. “I’m really happy with this victory after going through so many difficult times.”, adds the winner. “We lost so many places (in the last few races) that it was still slightly in the back of my mind. I was hoping to avoid this because it's not nice to fall in the rankings. The team put together a very good car and that was enough to achieve that. We have progressed since Barcelona. I am so happy. »
