Nico Rosberg scored his fifth victory of the season by winning the European GP in Baku ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Sergio Pérez.

Rosberg: solo victory in Baku

Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) easily won the European Grand Prix for the first trip of the F1 on the new Baku urban circuit (Azerbaijan). The pole sitter remained untouchable throughout the race and gradually built his lead until the checkered flag where the race was not once interrupted to the surprise of the teams and drivers.

Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) was the winner's closest rival, despite everything finishing more than 16 seconds behind. Sergio Pérez (Force India) takes his second podium in three races after the one won last May in Monaco.

The Mexican managed to overtake Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) on the last lap, but the 2007 world champion was still penalized five seconds for having exceeded the pit exit line.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) had to settle for fifth place after only starting from tenth position following his accident in qualifying. The three-time world champion had managed to move up the places, but the Briton saw his race disrupted by electrical problems and finished almost a minute behind his teammate.

Valtteri Bottas (Williams) ranks sixth ahead of Red Bull de Daniel Ricciardo et Max Verstappen, While Nico Hulkenberg (Force India) and Felipe Massa (Williams) completed the top ten. Romain Grosjean (Haas) ranks 13th ahead of Renault de Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer and Esteban Gutiérrez (Haas).
