Your engine regulation project was received coldly by the current manufacturers involved in F1. Did you anticipate such a reaction?
It surprised me because, after the various meetings we had with the FIA and the teams, I thought the direction decided was clear. What everyone agreed on was the need for new regulations.
There were seven well-defined goals that everyone agreed to. We presented to them what we think are the solutions to achieve these objectives. Solutions variously received.
Some thought they were in a restaurant, some liking the starter and dessert, others the main course but not the dessert, etc. Now, we are entering a consultation process between Liberty Media, the manufacturers and the FIA, and our message is simple:
“Here are the goals we agreed on and if you have better solutions to achieve them, we are more than willing to hear them. »
