Ross Brawn believes in Schumacher

Having just celebrated his 42nd birthday, Michael Schumacher has suffered a lot of criticism in recent months. Coming out of retirement after seven world championship titles, he only finished ninth in the 2010 season with almost half as many points (72 against 142) as his teammate Nico Rosberg.

Questioned on the subject by Gazzetta dello Sport, Brawn assures that his driver can progress in 2011, if his team allows him: “I know the birthday present he expects from me. He wants a competitive car! »

The main team of Mercedes GP is also convinced that the quality of the tires offered by Pirelli will change until the start of the first Grand Prix and that all teams will have to work on the subject: “It is premature to say that Michael will adapt better to Pirelli tires. During the Abu Dhabi tests, we noticed that the differences were not significant compared to the Bridgestones. But it is clear that with this change of manufacturer the single-seaters must be adapted. We will see many changes during winter testing. »
