Limited ride for Norris at Spielberg due to physical pain

Painful recovery day for Lando Norris at the opening of this Styrian Grand Prix. Not only on a sporting level with a drop of 3 places on the grid on Sunday inflicted by the stewards for overtaking under a yellow flag in Free Practice 1. But also and above all in the flesh.

McLaren had to limit the workload of the man who won his first career podium last Sunday. The 20-year-old young man suffered from compression in his chest when he was behind the wheel.

« I feel good as I speak to you and I can walk normally, confided Norris when he got out of the car. On the other hand, when I'm in the car, the pain is really bad, especially during fast turns and when I brake. I spoke to the specialist who follows me about it and we are trying to remedy it. It's not just about pointing out where the harm comes from, it's a little more complicated.

I take painkillers but this problem bothered me a lot today. It's really frustrating. I don't feel confident in the car and can't really push as I would like. I hope we will find a solution by our next outing on the track ».

Whatever happens in the qualifying session, threatened by the Austrian weather, Norris is already condemned to fall back 3 places on the grid. The Briton was in fact recognized for having doubled theAlpha Tauri de Pierre Gasly and Williams de Nicholas latifi under yellow flag in EL1.

« I made a mistake, recognized the McLaren driver. I was on a flying lap and two cars were on a deceleration lap so they pulled over to the right. I slowed down when I saw the yellow flag but kept going and passed them, which was pretty stupid ».

Given Norris's grimace, we imagine that he would not be against a day of rest on Saturday.
