Russell: “I could see much better with the Halo than expected”

The member of the young pilot program Mercedes, George Russell, is one of the few to have had the opportunity to ride during the entire mid-season tests in Hungary. The Briton took the opportunity to test the Halo which will become mandatory next year.

« I saw much better with the Halo than I anticipated, confides Russell. When the sun began to set at the end of the day, the Halo blocked the rays from reaching my eyes. So I even saw more than usual when the sun goes down."

The leader of the GP3 Series championship was testing this protective element for the first time and was thus able to give new insight as a driver of open single-seaters.

“From a pilot’s point of view, the visibility is really good. The only question would be at the start to see the lights. Getting in and out of the car with the Halo takes some practice. I had trouble at first, but after a few tries it was fine. »

For its first official tests in Formula 1, George Russell completed 209 laps of the Hungarian Tourniquet at the wheel of the W08.
