Russell predicts 'yo-yo effect for Williams this season'

George Russell will begin his third campaign with Williams en Formula 1 in 2021. The Briton would finally like to score his first points for the team founded by Frank Williams, a few months after the three units collected in Sakhir (Bahrain)… with Mercedes.

“For the moment, I have not been concerned about the performance of Mercedes in tests, indicates the 23-year-old pilot. I asked them how it went for them. But you know, it's Mercedes, they'll do well, I'm sure of it.", he says, in response to rumors of poor performance by the Star brand.

Acquired by an American investment group, the Williams team could still wait before climbing back up from the bottom of the standings. “We knew going into this season, and it was sort of confirmed in Bahrain, that our car is very sensitive to wind, as was the case for most of the teams.

“The testing highlighted our issues, which was a positive in a way, to give us a chance to dig into the data. It was interesting and made it difficult, but there are some good signs nonetheless.

“I think there could be a yo-yo effect for us this season. I think we will be fast in some races and slower in others. »

George Russell also noticed a team making clear progress… “Kimi (Räikkönen) seemed to be very fast during the Bahrain tests. I would say thatAlfa Romeo is the team that surprised me the most! »
