In the image of Mercedes ten years ago, the domination of McLaren was total this Sunday during the Grand Prix. 32 seconds, that's the time that separated Lando Norris, second in the race, and George Russell, third. At the finish of the race, the Briton was not hiding his pleasure, as he continued his most consistent run at the front. However, things did not seem to be going so well until then.
“I'm very happy to finish third because I struggled this weekend personally, I was never really in the right rhythm, he confessed. But in the end, I managed to get a good result. The McLarens were really far ahead today. It's never easy to keep Verstappen behind but I stayed calm and had confidence in the car."
Russell confirms Mercedes' consistency
Once again, George Russell appears to be the great opportunist on the grid in the 2025 season. For once, his teammate Kimi Antonelli finally seemed poised to surpass his elder in Miami. After securing pole position for Saturday's sprint race, the Italian demonstrated that his experience deficit was still visible.
For his part, George Russell preferred to be ironic. Despite an exciting start to the race on and behind the podium, the Briton echoed the start of the day, which was visibly more amusing. "Lando is a little angry with me because we had an incident during the Lego race this morning and he hurt his leg, I don't know if he's going to complain about me or not, he added, all smiles. This morning's race was undoubtedly the best of the day, we have to do that at every Grand Prix!"
Indeed, with rain expected in the first half of the race never appearing, the anticipated excitement quickly turned into yet another event where weather management was paramount. Russell looks formidable in this game, and has already completed his fourth podium of the season.

Russell is consistent, the best behind the Piastri/Norris/Verstappen trio. Will he manage to secure a victory for Mercedes in 2025, knowing that Antonelli is really getting closer and closer?
