Sainz and Kvyat blame each other at Toro Rosso

This is an image that team managers do not want to see. This Sunday, Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat, teammates at Toro Rosso, made contact on the first lap of the race at Silverstone, eliminating the Spanish driver.

Daniil Kvyat was subsequently penalized with a drive-through by the stewards for returning to the track in a dangerous manner. The Russian driver was also penalized two points on his license, placing his total at nine points out of the twelve authorized before a one-race suspension. The two residents of Franz Tost's stable each have their own point of view on the incident.

« What happened is very clear on the cameras, comments Sainz, quoted by the official website of the discipline. We were fighting for position, giving each other space, and then one car lost control and collided with the other right? It’s a shame, that’s for sure. It's not good for the team, but it's a discussion and analysis that will remain between us. This is something we need to talk about among ourselves. »

« The frustration is that I passed him at turn 11, and obviously you cross the line dirty and get understeer, declares Kvyat for his part. The car arrives with enormous speed and with understeer and as your teammate is not looking at you it arrives like this, you make contact. »
