Sainz Jr frustrated by Belgian GP

Carlos Sainz Jr will try to cross the finish line for the first time at this year's Belgian GP after experiencing two retirements in the last two editions. The pilot Toro Rosso is all the more frustrated as he appreciates the Spa-Francorchamps circuit where he notably took 10th position on the grid during his first participation in 2015.

“I really like the Spa-Francorchamps circuit because it offers a bit of everything, explains Carlos Sainz Jr. The route offers very long straight lines where it is possible to overtake but also interesting turns, particularly in the second sector. It's hard to find the right compromise on the car but I enjoy the challenge. »

“Spa is one of my favorite circuits, but surprisingly, I have never finished a race there F1, recalls Carlos Sainz Jr. My race in 2016 was even more frustrating than that of 2015 because I had one of the best laps of my career, taking 7th place after the first lap where I started from 15th position. I suddenly had a puncture on the straight after driving over pieces of carbon. I was really unlucky. »

Carlos Sainz Jr remains in 7th place at the Hungarian GP before the summer break. The Toro Rosso driver remains the leader of the Italian team, occupying 9th place in the Championship with 31 points ahead of his teammate Daniil Kvyat.
