Sainz Jr sent to the back of the grid in Austria

The weekend of Carlos Sainz Jr. (McLaren) is compromised from the first free practice session of the Austrian Grand Prix. The Spaniard, who benefits from a new Power Unit Renault this Friday, June 28 in the morning, will be demoted to the back of the starting grid for the ninth round of the 2019 season. Formula 1.

The son of the double world rally champion (WRC) changed the six elements that make up the French Power Unit : internal combustion engine (ICE), turbo, MGU-H, MGU-K, battery, electronic control unit. These changes exceed the limits authorized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), which therefore involves several penalties.

For its part, Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) will benefit from Spec B from the Mercedes block without incurring a penalty.
