As already announced by sporting director Ross Brawn, we are heading towards six Sprint qualifying races for the 2022 financial year, compared to three this season where the format was tested at Silverstone (United Kingdom), Monza (Italy), and Interlagos (Brazil).

The Grands Prix proposed to host this condensed format next year are as follows:

Bahrain (Sakhir) – March 20
Emilia-Romagna (Imola) – April 24
Canada (Montreal) – June 19
Austria (Red Bull Ring) – July 10
Netherlands (Zandvoort) – September 4
Brazil (Interlagos) – November 13

In other words, the season will kick off with a Sprint, while the penultimate round will also have one.

On the "financing" side, while the teams could count this season on additional income in the form of a collision bonus in case they suffered damage during accidents occurring in the Saturday Sprint, the idea of a Fixed amount would be preferred.

On the other hand, integration into the capped budget or bonus on the sidelines, the question is debated. Needless to say, this financial contribution is considered by the teams absolutely essential to the continuation of the Sprint format.

Finally, the last aspect studied, that of pole position. Unanimously, bosses and managers of the Group F1 want the FIA to change the rules so that the official pole goes to the fastest driver in Friday's qualifying session rather than the winner of the sprint.

Hence the idea that the Sprints become independent races... even if it will not be for next year a priori.
