Another weekend to forget at Silverstone for Daniel Ricciardo. The pilot McLaren has never been in the game since Friday. Beaten sharply by his teammate in qualifying (14th at 2″543 from Norris), the Australian finished in 13th place, out of 14 drivers at the finish.

After escaping the first corner pileup, the eight-time Grand Prix winner failed to get back into the peloton. Ricciardo complained of a strange feeling with his car after the race. “The car didn't really seem to be running at the same level of grip as the others. I could feel it through the tires too, trying to get speed. It was just a little strange, so we have some investigating to do. »

DRS failure for Ricciardo at mid-race

Stuck in the last positions after the second start, Daniel Ricciardo remained behind the Williams de Nicholas latifi. But what wasn't seen on TV was the DRS problem that affected the MCL36 mid-race. “We had a problem with the DRS. I couldn't use it after the 31st round, which is also a bit of a shame. Obviously it's difficult to overtake without it, but we just weren't fast enough today. It was a somewhat lonely afternoon. »

Andreas Seidl, McLaren team principal, detailed the problems encountered by his driver during the British event. “Daniel's weekend didn't go as planned. This will require careful analysis in the coming days, admitted the German engineer. He was not able to achieve competitive times yesterday and today. Additionally, he suffered a DRS failure which necessitated an additional pit stop mid-race. He was forced to ride without DRS in the second half of the race. »

Daniel Ricciardo leaves his British adventure empty-handed. A second consecutive Grand Prix out of the points after Canada. At the same time, Lando Norris finished 6th and scored points again. In the championship, the Englishman now has a 43-point lead over the Australian.
