Sauber with Honda from 2018

Clean F1 Team confirmed that it will abandon Power Units Ferrari for Hondas from 2018. The Swiss team, which is operating this season with last year's engines, will benefit from a better status with the Japanese engine manufacturer even if the latter is still encountering significant difficulties with McLaren.

“It is a great honor for Sauber F1 Team to be able to work with Honda in the coming seasons,” said Monisha Kaltenborn, the team’s Team Principal. Our realignment is not only visible through a new owner, it is also visible with this technology partnership. We have reached a new stage and we hope that it will offer us new opportunities. We thank Honda for making this happen. »

“Honda will have Sauber as a customer team from next year after having entered into a partnership with McLaren from 2015, added Katsuhide Moriyama, director of brand and communications operations at Honda Motor Co. This will be a new challenge for Honda's F1 department. We will strengthen the systems of our divisions in Sakura and Milton Keynes in order to benefit from the advantages of providing a second stable. »
