Sauber F1 becomes Alfa Romeo Racing

It will no longer be necessary to speak ofAlfa Romeo Clean F1 Team but from Alfa Romeo Racig. Gone is the name of the founder of the Hinwil team to make way for the Italian manufacturer who arrived last year as title sponsor.

“It’s a pleasure to start the 2019 F1 season with the team name Alfa Romeo Racing, comments Frédéric Vasseur, the Team Principal of the team. After launching the collaboration with Alfa Romeo as title sponsor in 2018, our team has made fantastic progress on the technical, commercial and sporting fronts. This brought extra motivation to every member of the team, whether on the pit wall or at the factory in Switzerland, and the hard work put in was reflected in our results. We want to continue to develop all areas of the team while being driven by our passion for racing and technology. »

Alfa Romeo competed in 110 Grands Prix between 1950 and 1985, winning two Drivers' titles in 1950 and 951 with Giuseppe Farina and Juan Manuel Fangio.

“Alfa Romeo Racing is a new name with a long history in F1, underlines Michael Manley, CEO of FCA Group. We are proud to collaborate with Sauber in bringing traditional Alfa Romeo technical excellence and Italian panache to the pinnacle of motorsport. Make no mistake: with Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi on one side and the expertise of Alfa Romeo and Sauber on the other, we are here to fight. »
