Sauber will test Giedo Van der Garde at Monza

Formerly a regular driver at Caterham, the Dutchman Giedo Van der Garde had found refuge at Sauber as a reserve driver for the Swiss team. He will return to the wheel of the C33 in free practice on Friday morning at Monza in Italy next weekend, after having officiated at Spa in Belgium.

“It’s good to be back behind the wheel, especially at Monza where the atmosphere is always special, says Van der Garde. I like this track, and with the new engines and the low downforce aero package we will be very fast in a straight line. It's important to have a good point speed, but also to be quick in the chicanes. You will have to find the right compromise between speed and stability. During this session, we will test different configurations to find this compromise. »

Van der Garde will replace the German Adrian Sutil, who will return to his seat from the second free practice session on Friday afternoon.
