This Tuesday, July 1st, Sauber Motorsport announced the opening of its new technology center at Bicester Motion, UK. It is strategically located in the heart of Motorsport Valley, a region renowned for its high concentration of elite motorsport expertise.

This marks a new step in the team's transformation, as preparations for the Audi F1 project intensify ahead of its entry into the world championship. Formula 1 in 2026. According to Sauber, the primary objective of this facility is to strengthen and expand its technical capabilities, ensuring it is well positioned to attract top engineering talent and to establish partnerships with leading supply chain specialists in the industry.

A key center “for long-term success” in F1

In addition, this center will provide a base for the team to leverage regional expertise and support the Audi F1 project headquarters located in Hinwil, in Swiss. “The opening of the Sauber Motorsport Technology Centre at Bicester Motion is a major milestone as we prepare for Audi’s arrival in Formula 1. The support it will bring to Hinwil will be essential to our long-term success.”, assures Mattia Binotto, director of the Audi F1 project.

“This facility will allow us to tap into the Motorsport Valley talent pool and further strengthen our technical capabilities, while joining a vibrant ecosystem at Bicester Motion where motorsport lives and breathes.”, the Italian engineer continues.

The brand with the rings, which will line up, like Sauber this season, the duo Nico Hulkenberg-Gabriel Bortoleto in F1 next year thus seems to be putting all the chances on his side to perform and above all last in the premier category.

It's surprising that this announcement still mentions Sauber Motorsport rather than Audi F1 or Audi Motorsport. With the opening of a Techno Center at Bicester Motion in the Motorsport Valley, only Scuderia Ferrari doesn't have a base/technical center on the other side of the Channel. For how much longer?
