Sauber welcomes the arrival of Liberty Media

If Sauber F1 Team has benefited from new investors to ensure a future in F1, its financial situation remains delicate at a time when the discipline is embarking on new regulations. With Force India, the Swiss team filed a complaint in 2015 with the European Commission, which opened an investigation to assess the fair distribution of income.

“I am sure that the European Union is looking at this very closely because, in principle, the answer to the question of whether competition is distorted or not is very simple to take, commented the Sauber F1 Team director on Deutschlandfunk radio. We will continue to support the procedure and we believe that something will come of it. »

Monisha Kaltenborn seems to very favorably welcome the arrival of Liberty Media which bought the commercial rights to F1 from CVC.

“We have already discussed it with Force India with Liberty, she said. We had a buyer from the media industry for the first time and someone (John Malone, the managing director of Liberty Media) who had made very good investments in other sectors. In some series, small teams have certain rights that highlight their importance. I think a good dialogue will take place. »

Liberty Media is already thinking about new ways to limit costs for teams. Sergio Marchionne, the president of Ferrari, is moreover expressed on the subject indicating that he did not think a solution would be viable to reduce expenses.
