Sauber is strengthening itself in view of the arrival of Audi in 2026. Or rather, the German manufacturer is already preparing its entry into F1. The Swiss team formalized this Monday the arrival of Stefano Sordo in its ranks.

He will occupy the position of performance director, a position precisely created as part of the association project with Audi. At Hinwill, he will report directly to James Key, Sauber's technical director.

« I am very excited to join Sauber and take on a role that will have a direct impact on leveraging the performance we already have within the company, and helping it reach new heights, he confides.

The team is at a crucial moment in its history, with the start of the Audi adventure on the horizon, and I look forward to the challenge that awaits us. I'm excited about what the future holds: the goals set by the team are ambitious, but I see a lot of confidence from everyone in this organization."

Stefano Sordo has a long career in F1 with almost two decades in the paddock, holding positions such as racing engineer and director of aerodynamics before taking on the role of performance director at McLaren, the same mission he will have at Sauber.

Also passed by Red Bull, he contributed to the team's titles between 2010 and 2013. To date, his last position was as technical director at RLL Racing, working on theIMSA and l'IndyCar.
