Schumacher still has to wait

Michael Schumacher, placed in eighth position on the grid, was able to get off to a good start, moving up to sixth place at the exit of the first corner of the Malaysian Grand Prix. The seven-time World Champion held this position until the tenth lap but had to give up prematurely, let down by his car.

« It's a shame not to have been able to finish the race but unfortunately I lost a nut on my left rear wheel, says Schumacher. The car suddenly became very unstable in turn 6 and I had difficulty steering it. At first I thought it was the suspension but when I stopped and looked closer I quickly realized it was a missing nut. »

If he regrets this problem, Michael Schumacher knows that he could not do anything about it and that this variable is part of motor racing. “ This is something that happens very rarely and, during testing, we never encountered any problems in this area. I would have liked to finish the race because I think it could have worked well. Well, that?s motorsport, I haven?t forgotten it. »

If he wanted, for his third race, to achieve a good performance to show that he has lost none of his qualities, Michael Schumacher accepts this twist of fate with a lot of perspective. “ There's no point in being angry, you have to accept that as one of the rules of the game. At least Nico finished the race and achieved the first podium for the team. I am happy for him and the team. »
