The bromance continues! Mick Schumacher et Nikita mazepin, who are not really the best friends in the world, will always ride under the colors of Haas F1 Team in 2022.

Coming this Thursday in Sochi, ahead of the Russian Grand Prix, the announcement is anything but a surprise.

Both rookies are experiencing an apprenticeship in F1 that is difficult to say the least due to the glaring lack of performance of their car, which has not evolved one iota since the kick-off in Bahrain.

To make matters worse, tensions have continued to grow this year between the son of the seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher and his Russian colleague, who often quarreled on the track.

The last confusion dates back to the last Italian GP where Mazepin received a penalty for catching Schumi Junior.

The two 22-year-old drivers now hope that the regulatory revolution expected next year will allow Haas to return to a more decent level, as when the American team finished 5th in the Manufacturers' standings in 2018 with Romain Grosjean et Kevin Magnussen.

« We wanted continuity at the wheel, commented Guenther Steiner, team principal of the US team. The season was complicated due to the car at our disposal. But that didn't stop our rookies from taking on the challenge, working closely with the team to learn our methods and adapt to the rigors of F1.

We are confident of taking a leap forward in performance to give Mick and Nikita a more competitive car so they can take the next step in their careers next year ».

Wishful thinking or real ambitions? Schumacher and Mazepin hope in any case that the suffering of 2021 will not have been endured in vain.

After today's announcement, only one seat remains available on the 2022 grid, the second steering wheel at Alfa Romeo, next to Valtteri Bottas.
