Schumacher will celebrate his 300th Grand Prix at Spa

Since it started in Formula 1 in 1991 with Jordan, Michael Schumacher forms a special relationship with the Spa-Francorchamps route. After making his debut there at the wheel of the Jordan 191, he scored his first victory in F1 the following year on the Ardennes slide in the Benetton B191. Since then, the German has scored five new successes in Belgium and hopes to achieve a good result for his 300th weekend in F1.

« For me, Spa is a bit like my second home, explains Schumacher. It’s clearly the best circuit in the world. It's incredible to see that I have always experienced special moments there: my debut, my first victory, a world champion title and great races. The fact that I will participate in my 300th Grand Prix at Spa was, in a way, inevitable and we will have to celebrate it properly. I am proud to be the second driver in history to reach this milestone and I hope we will have a particularly good weekend. Our performances were good last year at Spa and I will do everything possible to have a good race. »

Great architect of Schumacher's successes in F1, whether at Benetton or at Ferrari, Ross Brawn is happy to be able to share this moment with the seven-time world champion. “ For the second year in a row, Spa will mark a highlight for Michael and the team, adds the Briton. Last year, he celebrated his 20th career and this year, it will be his 300th Grand Prix in F1. This is something fantastic that has only been achieved by one other driver. We can't wait to be able to celebrate with him, hoping to have a good weekend. »
