Schumacher could return… later

Saddened not to be able to make his comeback in Valencia, Schumacher made a point of expressing his disappointment in person: “I prepared very seriously, I did everything possible. But from the beginning, Ferrari and I had always said that I would only fly if my physical condition allowed me to do so. It's sad that in the end I didn't manage to achieve this goal. »

Responding to rumors that he could make his return at Monza or even in 2010, Schumacher did not deny it, simply responding that "the speculation is quite natural in F1. Many people have their own opinions. The only true thing is that I am very disappointed that I was not able to do what I wanted. That?s all I think about now. »

A fine player, Schumacher says he is convinced of the relevance of the choice of Luca Badoer to replace Felipe Massa: “Luca is a very good friend. He has been preparing for years because it is his job: to be ready to do tests and even races if something happens. He?s not someone who spends his time sitting around doing nothing. He has intensified his preparation since Felipe's accident. Given his knowledge of F1 and the team, I think he is the best for this job. He hasn?t raced for a long time, but a driver doesn?t lose the competitive spirit. It will be difficult for him, but he is best prepared for it. »

The seven-time World Champion did not fail to give some fresh news from his friend Massa: “I am in contact with him because we are close. This is also why I agreed to replace him. The positive thing is that he is recovering very well. He is very motivated. He doesn't work very hard because the doctors don't allow him to, but it's good to see him progress. »
