Mercedes GP made the signing of Michael Schumacher official on Wednesday morning. Retired since the end of 2006, the German is making his return to Formula 1 and will team up with Nico Rosberg.

Schumacher joins Mercedes GP

The announcement of the return of Michael Schumacher had been swelling for some time now. This time it’s official, the seven-time World Champion is back in action with the team Mercedes GP. Announced in the German press on Tuesday, the return of the Red Baron was made official this Wednesday during a press conference organized by Mercedes GP.

After three years of inactivity, Michael Schumacher is coming out of retirement to offer himself a final challenge in a Mercedes GP team which wanted to field a duo of 100 percent German drivers. It is now done with Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher.

The most successful driver in the history of F1 with seven world titles therefore returns through the front door to the Mercedes GP team led by Ross Brawn. It was alongside the British strategist that ‘Schumi’ won all of his crowns. There is no doubt that the pair will aim to reach the summits again. Finally, for this return, Schumacher should receive a salary close to 7 million euros.
