Schumacher: “A question of feeling”

Michael Schumacher set the best time in the second free practice session of the Australian Grand Prix after completing 16 laps. If his time of 1:29:183 is lower than that of Jenson Button (McLaren) performed in the first session (1?27??560), the pilot Mercedes was fitted with medium tires on a track which was just becoming dry. In addition, his teammate Nico Rosberg also occupied interesting places (sixth and ninth). If the seven-time world champion does not claim victory, he says he is satisfied with the behavior of the W03, even if the weather conditions encountered today have further muddied the waters on a possible hierarchy.

“Today was a good start to what I hope will be an exciting season”, comments the former world champion. “We had two promising sessions for us. However, I'm not going to talk about confidence yet because the weather conditions were too variable to have a clear idea. We know what the Friday sessions are for and we do not know the quantities of gasoline on board. On the other hand, it is good to see that we are competitive in various circumstances and to see that the car has good behavior. It's a question of feeling. »
