Seb who laughs, Seb who cries

“Qualifying in Q3 is more than I hoped for today,” admits Buemi, who is only competing in his third Grand Prix this weekend. “I don't think I could have done better. When I was low on gas, the car was very good. But when we attacked Q3, I no longer had soft tires and I had to do three flying laps with the standard tires. So I believe we can be satisfied. The team has improved the car a lot since the start of the season. Today, things fell into place well. »

For his part, Sébastien Bourdais admitted having made a mistake: “It’s as simple as that. I tried to optimize my trajectory to take turn 8 well, but I cut a little too much and ended up on the dirty part of the track. The following corners were very difficult because the tires were full of dust, I lost at least half a second in the process. When I see that my teammate did two very good laps, I tell myself that the potential is there. Tomorrow I will see what I can do, even if it is always difficult to overtake on this circuit. »
