Sebastian Vettel: 'It wasn't perfect'

After the passage of the two Mercedes under the checkered flag, it was recorded that a Ferrari would be in pole position for the 2018 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. But Sebastian Vettel remained under threat from Kimi Räikkönen, then ahead of his German teammate.

But a mistake coming out of the last corner dashed the Finn's hopes, giving the quadruple world champion a third consecutive pole. However, Vettel believes that his benchmark lap, established on his first attempt in Q3, could have been better.

“In the first round I was happy but there were two places where it wasn’t perfect. » underlines the former pilot Red Bull who could not improve on his second pass.

“I was ahead, and I locked a wheel, it surprised me in turn 3 and I didn't know if I should go straight or try to pass. I tried to hang on, but luckily it was enough because I did a really good lap on the first try. »

Vettel thus aims to make up for his Chinese Grand Prix where, despite pole position, he was unable to get on the podium after notably a collision with Max Verstappen.
