Sebastian Vettel: You have to be realistic

Arrived as a replacement for the Spanish Fernando Alonso, set out to take up the challenge Honda with McLaren, the four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will tackle another challenge this season: putting the Team Ferrari in the right direction. The German points out, however, that it will take time.

“There are a lot of changes going on, new people in new roles, myself included so it always takes a bit of time to settle in and make real progress. I am convinced that we are going in the right direction but I think it would be a mistake to immediately expect a lot from us because you have to remember we are coming from a 2014 season where there was a very dominant team. I think it's going to be difficult to be there right away, but our main goal is to work together, make progress and reduce the gap as the season progresses. » confesses the 27-year-old pilot.

Concerning the numerical objectives of Scuderia Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel wants to be measured, recalling the domination of Mercedes last year. “ We would be happy to win. We have to be realistic. There were a lot of changes during the winter, so I think the most important thing is to get into the rhythm quickly during the winter tests and make progress. If the situation is like last year it will be difficult to fight for victory, but that is our goal, we are here to win, not to finish second. »

The German is expected to begin the Scuderia's winter testing program on Sunday in Jerez, Spain.
