Sebastian Vettel is not in favor of electric

At the end of qualifying for the Indian Grand Prix, once again dominated by Sebastian Vettel, the pilot Red Bull was asked at a press conference about his feelings regarding the future of motorsport turning towards electric technologies. The establishment of Formula E for next year, the first 100% electric single-seater championship with the FIA label, has already attracted several prestigious teams such as Andretti Autosport for e.dams. However, some fans fear such a breakthrough which could harm the show. The introduction of the 6T/H V1.6 in F1 for 2014 was particularly criticized.

Sebastian Vettel shares this point of view regarding electric vehicles. " I do not like it at all. I think this is not the future. I think people come to feel F1 and you don't feel much when a car goes by and you hear nothing but the sound of the wind. Maybe I'm a bit "old fashioned", but I think F1 has to scream, it has to be loud, it has to be vibrant. That's what I remember when I discovered F1 in 1992 during free practice at Hockenheim, even though it was rainy and the cars didn't go out. But I was overwhelmed when the cars finally took to the track for their installation lap. It was fantastic to hear them passing through the forest and smell them on the ground. »

Nico Rosberg also wanted to give his opinion, being more reserved than his compatriot. “It’s an interesting thing, of course. It’s something new and I know there’s a lot of interest and it’s planned to be contested in cities. This therefore brings the race to the people, it is no longer the people who travel for the race. It will be interesting to see how this develops. » His teammate Lewis Hamilton was more concise. “I agree with both. »
