Sebastian Vettel had played the FIA by achieving a series of donuts with each victory at the end of the last season last year. Red Bull Racing had also been fined £21 (around €000) when the German won his fourth title on the pretext that the latter had not returned his RB25 to the parc ferme when he had just celebrated his fourth title. The criticism was strong and numerous following this sanction considered severe and unfair by fans in need of spectacle.
The FIA therefore corrected the situation by modifying Article 30.4 of the sporting regulations. The exception will only concern the winner of the Grand Prix who may perform any celebratory sign, including stopping on the track during the pit lap, as long as it does not endanger the safety of pilots and marshals, that he does not question the legality of his car and that he does not delay the podium ceremony.
