Sebastian Vettel stopped in his tracks

Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) had a perfect weekend. Before being betrayed by its mechanics. Poleman, leader of the race ahead of Ferrari de Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, the young German got off to a great start. But a mechanical problem did not give him time to savor these first positive signs. The vice-world champion had to settle for fourth place, having lost a lot of power due to an engine problem. He can't hide his regrets.

« It?s a shame, but what do you want to do about it? Overall everything worked fine, until this problem. Everything was going well but I lost power with 20 laps to go. Fortunately, I was able to continue to finish fourth. But we should have won. »

« The weekend was positive so far, continues Vettel. On Saturday we were the fastest in all conditions. Today we had control of the race and we had a perfect strategy. Everything worked very well. This mechanical problem is costing us dearly but we have at least taken 12 important points. »

For his part, Christian Horner, team principal, is also disappointed and sympathizes with the disappointment of his champion. “ It's cruel for Sebastian. He had a superb race and managed to escape to the front. The pit stop went very well. But, after 33 laps, he had a significant loss of power. He no longer had enough power to defend himself against the Ferraris and Hamilton, but drove well enough to protect fourth place. He was able to score important points but it's very disappointing when you come so close to victory. »
