Long-time mentor of Mick Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel was in the front row to witness in the fight between Max Verstappen and his protégé for first place. The young German failed to find an opening in the defense of the world champion despite the car injured from this one, but nevertheless scored his first two points in Formula 1. A performance that the pilot Haas has been waiting for since his arrival in the discipline in 2021.

“I’m very happy for him. I saw what was happening and I saw that it was close (between Verstappen and Schumacher. Editor's note), says Sebastian Vettel after the race. I shouted in the car: “Go Mick, go Mick, double it!” » I'm really happy for him. He waited a long time for this, he deserves this result. It's great for him to get it. He was behind me at the restart with Max, but I couldn't contain them with their soft tires (Vettel wore mediums under the Safety Car. Editor’s note), I had no interest in resisting. It was fun watching them battle each time at turn 15, (he turns to Mick who was at his side during the interview) when you were side by side… I also liked the battle at turn 6.”
Sebastian Vettel took ninth place in this British Grand Prix, his team's home race Aston Martin.
