Sébastien Buemi happy and frustrated

Sébastien Buemi (Toro Rosso), after a very difficult start to the season during which bad luck seemed to pursue him, can now breathe. Race after race, the friendly Swiss driver manages to climb back to the top of the table. Eighth in the Canadian Grand Prix, Buemi will start this time in eleventh position in Valencia. The Toro Rosso driver would have liked to progress to Q3 and climb into the Top 10, but this eleventh place is already a success.

« To tell the truth, I didn't expect to be eleventh, the Swiss pilot tells us. It?s much better than what we thought we would do. But I'm a little disappointed because Barrichello slowed me down a lot in the last corner, otherwise I could have progressed to Q3. He had finished his turn »

The result of these qualifications encourages the Swiss to persevere and continue his efforts. But he can barely explain why he was able to be so competitive on Saturday. “ It's impressive. I don't know why the car performed so well when no improvements were made. Which means that with a car without development, by managing to optimize everything, we can obtain good results. »

For the race, Sébastien Buemi is obviously aiming for a Top 10, even if he knows that the competition will be tough. If he is satisfied with his place on the grid, he also knows that the cars will be very close to each other in the first corner, at this point in the peloton. “ It?s better to be in front but I still start in the middle of the pack. The reasons to hope for a good race are still there. »
