In an interview granted on the official Formula 1 website, Sergio Perez highlighted the mentality and talent of tsunoda, promoted to holder at Red Bull, while evoking his own journey within the Austrian team.

Perez was full of praise for Yuki Tsunoda, emphasizing his ability to rise to the challenges of the highest level of motorsport. Yuki has the talent, the speed and, above all, the mental strength to cope with it, judges the Mexican. I think he has the right mentality and attitude to deal with it. I hope they succeed. »

The former Red Bull driver also expressed his support for his former team, despite the end of their collaboration at the end of the 2024 season. I sincerely wish them the best, said Checo. Woody (Richard Wood), who is a very good friend, is now Yuki's engineer, so I really hope they have success. »

When I joined Red Bull, several top drivers had already struggled – Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly…They are incredible pilots, yet they also encountered difficulties. »

The Guadalajara native, who could bounce back at Cadillac in 2026, regrets that his own difficulties were not fully understood. Last season, I wasn't able to show my true potential as a driver. And now, suddenly, everyone realizes how demanding this car is. I spent so much time at Red Bull that people ended up forgetting how difficult this car is to drive, so it was tricky. »

This is a rather surprising statement, because if Tsunoda were to succeed at the wheel of the second RB21, it would work against TexMex in his quest for a return to the F1 seat! It would be in his best interest for Tsunoda to fail...
