Senna: Performance over money

After title sponsor AT&T withdrew, Williams was in a delicate situation to keep its structure F1 afloat. The British team studied proposals from Bruno Senna and Adrian Sutil to replace Rubens Barrichello and it was ultimately the compatriot of the F1 veteran who was chosen. Nevertheless, the former Lotus driver-Renault ensures that Grove staff were primarily interested in his skills rather than the financial contribution of his tenure.

“I am convinced that it is not only thanks to my sponsors that I was hired”, assures Bruno Senna. “They tested my skills with all kinds of tests and they didn't even tell me about financial support at the beginning, they wanted to evaluate me first. My only chance rested on them being satisfied with my performance. I spent a few days with Rob (Wilson, instructor) and a few more days on the simulator and all this gave the team confidence. »
