Seven teams demand to lift the veil on the FIA – Ferrari agreement

The FIA surprised everyone last Friday on the evening of winter testing F1, announcing a confidential agreement reached with Scuderia Ferrari, while many doubts arose in 2019 about the legality of the powertrain of Maranello.

Confidential agreement which, unsurprisingly, did not make many people happy in the F1 paddock, since seven teams, Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren, Renault, RacingPoint, Alpha Tauri et Williams, come from speak out publicly this Wednesday against this arrangement.

“We were surprised and shocked by the FIA's statement on Friday February 28 regarding the conclusion of its investigation into Scuderia Ferrari's F1 power unit, indicate the seven teams in a joint press release.

An international sports regulator has the responsibility to act according to the highest standards of governance, integrity and transparency.

After months of investigations which were undertaken by the FIA solely following requests raised by other teams, we strongly object to the FIA reaching a confidential settlement agreement with Ferrari to conclude this matter.

Therefore, we publicly declare our shared commitment to getting to the bottom of this matter, to ensure that our sport treats all competitors fairly and equally. We do this on behalf of Formula One fans, competitors and stakeholders.

Furthermore, we reserve the right to seek redress, under the normal FIA procedure and before the competent courts. »

Only two teams, Alfa Romeo racing and Haas F1 Team, did not follow suit, being supplied by Ferrari in terms of the Power Unit. But here is a twist in this affair, which may well lead to others.
