Sergio Pérez injured in neck during crash in Montreal

Sergio Pérez definitely had a very bad Canadian Grand Prix. The Mexican, qualified only 13th on the starting grid in Montreal after crashing his Red Bull RB18 in the background, was forced to retire on the 9th lap, following a mechanical problem. Worse, the teammate of Max Verstappen indicated that he was suffering from a severe neck strain, caused by his accident during Q2 on Saturday on the Canadian wetland. “ I didn't feel it after the accident. It's very painful in general, everything seemed fine“, indicated Sergio Pérez to our colleagues from Fox Sports.

This mishap forced the native of Guadalajara to somewhat upset his plans. “ I can't train, I'm in total neck therapy to be 100% for Silverstone“, which will host the British GP (July 1-3). Now 46 points behind his teammate Max Verstappen, winner this weekend, Sergio Pérez may regret his retirement from Montreal, from the 9th lap due to a gearbox problem. “ This was to be his last race. It was close to the limit and unfortunately it broke down. These are things that happen, and are difficult to predict.«

With this zero point, when his teammate pocketed the 25 points for victory, Sergio Pérez knows that he will have to count on optimal reliability to hope to have a chance of competing with Max Verstappen, fairly, in the conquest of the world title. “ It is important to resolve these issues. Every reliability issue was different from the last for us this year, so we have to keep working. This is something that will decide the outcome of the championship.«
