Sergio Perez contacted by "several F1 teams" for 2026

@DPPI

You have to go back fifteen years to find a grid of Formula 1 without Sergio Pérez. At the time, in 2010, Lewis Hamilton had only one world champion title, Kimi Antonelli celebrated his 4th birthday and Michael Schumacher was still on the Formula 1 grid. A notable driver of the last decade, Sergio Pérez left his regular place at Red Bull after being fired by the team, despite a contract running until 2026.

After some very disappointing performances at the end of the year, the Guadalajara native lost his seat to Liam Lawson, who ultimately only lasted two races. The New Zealander's failure paradoxically gave some credit to Sergio Pérez's performances last year, who ultimately wasn't that far behind his teammate.

The former Racing Point driver has been enjoying his wife and four children since December, with no racing plans yet. The Mexican has assured that he will make a decision on his future within the next six months, but his story with Formula 1 may not be completely over.

Sergio Perez is looking for a "motivating" project

"If I find a project that fully motivates me to come back, where the team believes in me and where they appreciate my career, my experience and everything I can bring to a team, it would be very interesting to consider a return." assures number 11 in an interview on the official F1 website.

“That’s why I’ve given myself at least six months to consider all my options and make a decision on what to do next with my career. There are some very interesting projects. I’ve been contacted by several teams from Abu Dhabi. The season has started, so several things will materialize in the coming months. We’re talking to several stakeholders. Once I know all the options, I’ll make a decision. What’s clear to me is that I’ll only come back if the project makes sense and I can enjoy it.”

"I've already spent a lot of time in F1, I've almost seen it all. Looking back, you realize how much you've sacrificed in life for this sport. So, to fully commit to F1, I need motivation." continues Pérez. His motivation could come from Cadillac's arrival in Formula 1, planned for next year. The American manufacturer is currently prospecting to find its two future drivers. While Colton Herta's name was announced at the top of the list, the American appears to be more in the background in recent weeks in favor of former F1 drivers: Sergio Pérez, Valtteri Bottas et Guanyu-Zhou.

The announcement of Cadillac's future drivers is expected in the coming months, but for now it is still too early to know whether Sergio Perez will indeed return to F1, with the American team or elsewhere.

I have doubts, it's April 01st, which team could be interested in Perez, except for his pesos.
