Sergio Pérez hopes for a livelier race in Spain

This will be his first European race at McLaren. After a relatively complicated start to the season, Sergio Pérez is approaching the Spanish Grand Prix as an important step in progressing in the understanding of his car, the MP4-28. “The Catalunya circuit is a place that all drivers know well because we do a lot of kilometers here in winter. This will be the right place to test the car since it is a very demanding circuit aerodynamically”, explains the Mexican. “We have a lot of data from our testing here, and we will have a good read on our performance when we start free practice this Friday. This should be a very useful weekend for understanding the MP4-28 and deciding which directions to follow. »

Sergio Pérez also had a word for the introduction of two DRS zones, on which drivers can activate their movable wings, which makes overtaking maneuvers easier. “I hope this will improve the race. We have seen in China and Bahrain that cars from Formula 1 can fight very closely if they are in good conditions. Barcelona has always been a difficult circuit for overtaking, so I hope that with the new regulations this will improve things. It would be great for the thousands of people in the stands if there were some spectacular overtakes?, hopes the McLaren driver.
