After four seasons, 88 Grands Prix, 24 kilometres covered and four victories, Carlos Sainz is officially no longer a pilot Ferrari. In this new year 2025, the Iberian joins Williams to give way to Lewis Hamilton. Alex's new teammate Albon remembered some of the best memories of his years in red, notably his victories with the Italian team: “Four very different, but very moving victories.”
Sainz looked back on each of his victories, starting with his very first at British Grand Prix at Silverstone in 2022 "because the first is always unforgettable. "He had imposed himself against Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton at the end of a heated race. Between the impressive collision between Guanyu-Zhou and George Russell, who saw the car The Chinese finished in the fences and dragged Alex Albon, Esteban Ocon and Yuki tsunoda, the irruption of radical environmental activists "Just Stop the Oil" on the track (during the red flag) or even the Ferrari team strategies which greatly displeased Charles Leclerc, number 55 achieved his first success in Formula 1 after 150 Grand Prix contested.
Victories always strong in emotion
Winner for a second time in 2023, Sainz said that “That year it was really special to win in Singapore, especially in that way.” The season had been marked by the domination of Red Bull, who had remained undefeated until this victory. Finally, the thirty-year-old spoke of the special nature of these two victories in 2024, for his last season alongside Charles Leclerc: “Australia, because I was coming back from a difficult winter and appendicitis. I won suddenly and it was emotional. has he said. And then Mexico, because at that time it was maybe my last victory and my mother was there, all my family, my friends were there to see me win and it was really special."
For the Madrilenian, it is impossible not to mention his first time in a Ferrari single-seater among his best memories: “A moment I will never forget was coming out of the pits at Fiorano for my first laps in a Ferrari. I think it’s something that will stay etched in my memory forever.” While sharing his best moments with the Scuderia, Sainz still admitted that this last season had been " hard " et "stressful" despite good management on his part: “I am very proud of the way I handled every situation throughout the year and managed to push myself to arrive at the end of the year in good shape, ready to fight for [the Constructors' Championship].” Carlos Sainz is right to cherish these beautiful memories with Ferrari: with Williams, it will certainly be a different story... but obviously, we wish him as much success - if not more - at Grove as at Maranello.
